Admissions

Admissions Policy

We determine the suitability of each candidate by reviewing their application, report cards and letters of reference, as well as administering a classroom assessment and/or family interview for shortlisted applicants. We value the unique experiences, interests and talents of all students.

Admission to Claren Academy is based on:

  • The candidate’s social, emotional, and developmental readiness

  • The school’s assessment of references and past academic records

  • The family’s interview, with a focus on their interest in the school philosophy

  • The candidate’s actions during the play-based observation

The following may also be considered:

  • Availability of space in the year to which the candidate is applying

  • Diversity and gender balance

  • Siblings of students already enrolled

We do not use standardized tests for admission.

Kindergarten applicants are assessed in a classroom visit which takes place in November (and March depending on availability). Admission for grades 1 and above are carried out on a rolling basis.
